Sounding Stage extends the relational logic of Sounding Canvas into architectural scale.
Sounding Stage is a proprietary interactive environment developed by Perceptrum², evolving the sensing principles of our Sounding Canvas into a fully responsive architectural space. It functions as a kinetic interface, translating the performer's corporeal presence into real-time electroacoustic synthesis.
Rather than relying on force or pressure, the environment operates through a sensitive membrane that detects the subtlety of proximity and intent. This allows the performer to treat the space not as a stage to be walked upon, but as an instrument to be inhabited.

Through a central "electronic brain," the space interprets the performer’s history of movement, transforming movement into a dialogical experience where the environment itself becomes an active, listening participant in the performance.

- Horizontal Plane (Interactive Floor): The stage floor is fitted with capacitive sensors, turning the entire performance surface into a sensitive membrane. This area is typically assigned the role of governing the temporal and prosodic aspects of the resultant soundscape, controlling rhythm, dynamism, and sequential transitions.
- Vertical Planes (Interactive Curtains): Surrounding the stage, the curtains function as large-scale vertical Sounding Canvases. These vertical interaction zones are typically reserved for defining the broader harmonic and ambient qualities of the composition, controlling the overall sonic atmosphere.
The Sounding Stage provides a reusable, scalable, and versatile technological foundation for the creation of works in contemporary dance, physical theatre, and immersive installation, where the environment is an active, listening participant.
